I tried to make my account, but it doesn't seem to have worked. What do the different messages in my Portfolio mean?

Part of creating your new Investing Account is scanning your identity documents and proof of address. Sometimes something goes wrong when we check your documents, which means you might have to retry. In these cases, you'll see a message in your Portfolio telling you what went wrong and how you can fix it.

You might see any of the following banners in your Portfolio. When you retry, follow the instructions in the banner.

  • Select the correct nationality - be sure that the nationality you select in the app matches the nationality on your passport or ID card.
  • Take clear pictures - if the uploaded image isn't clear, we may not be able to verify the details on your document. Try to minimise any glare, and reduce blur by placing your document on a solid surface while taking the photo.
  • Upload your passport or EU ID card - Unfortunately, we're not able to verify your identity using documents such as drivers' licences or residency cards, so be sure to take a live photo of either your passport or ID card only.
  • Select the correct document type - Before scanning your identity document, we ask you to select which type of document you'll be scanning. Be sure to select the type that actually matches your document.

If we weren't able to verify your proof of address, try to capture or upload your document again and ensure that:

  • The image you upload must show your name, your address, and the date of the document
  • Your document i less than 90 days old
  • You captured a photo of the original document or uploaded an existing photo from your device. Please do not take a photo of the document as displayed on your computer monitor.

After uploading your documents, you may see a message in Shopbuddies telling you that we are unable to make an Investing Account for you. If you see this banner, contact us and our dedicated customer support team will do their best to assist you. However, in some cases, BROKR may not be able to open an Investing Account for you.
